I’ve really been enjoying the show Chef Academy on Bravo. I’m a reluctant fan of some reality shows, and this is definitely the type that I do like. They’re only interesting if they are about “creating” something – in this case, food.
I also appreciate that it’s not strictly an “elimination” type show, where someone gets kicked off every week. You can still get eliminated, but after three strikes, and there’s not so much competition.
But I find particularly amusing Chef Novelli. You can’t have a good reality show without an entertaining personality, and he certainly is, although I suspect it’s not intentional. I have to be honest: it’s because he’s so damn French!
Every week brings another phrase that cracks me up. This week, they’re making a pork belly recipe, but he calls it “poke belly.” Two weeks ago, he kept saying “remember” but it sounds like he’s saying “Raymond Burr.” In fact, if you say Raymond Burr, you sound just like him.
Keep it up, Chef. I’m enjoying the show.
